Peptide Usage Guide

A complete, step-by-step reference for safely reconstituting, storing, handling, administering and disposing of your research peptides — written for Australian and New Zealand researchers.

Storage quick reference

At-a-glance conditions for every peptide state.

Reconstitution

Dissolving lyophilised peptide powder with bacteriostatic water to a precise, usable concentration.

Reconstitute your lyophilised peptide vial with bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol). The volume of diluent you add determines the final concentration, so measure carefully and use the dosage calculator to compute exact draw volumes for your protocol.

  1. 1Wash hands thoroughly and sanitise the vial stopper with a 70% alcohol swab.
  2. 2Draw the desired volume of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe.
  3. 3Insert the needle through the vial stopper and aim the stream of water down the inside wall of the vial — never blast the powder directly.
  4. 4Gently swirl the vial until the powder fully dissolves. Do NOT shake or vortex — foaming can degrade the peptide.
  5. 5Allow the solution to rest for a few minutes, then keep refrigerated immediately.

Tip: A common starting diluent volume is 1–2 mL. More diluent = lower concentration = larger draw volume per dose.

Storage

Temperature, light and moisture conditions that preserve peptide integrity short and long term.

Peptides are sensitive to heat, light and repeated temperature swings. Lyophilised (unreconstituted) vials are stable for long-term storage when kept frozen. Once reconstituted, the peptide must be refrigerated and used within a limited window to avoid degradation.

  1. 1Lyophilised vials: store in a freezer at −20°C for up to 24 months.
  2. 2Reconstituted vials: store in a refrigerator at 2–8°C and use within 28 days.
  3. 3Protect all vials from direct light — keep them in their box or a dark container.
  4. 4Never freeze a reconstituted vial; freezing ruptures the peptide structure.
  5. 5Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles — each cycle reduces potency.

Tip: If you cannot use a reconstituted vial within 28 days, divide it into single-dose aliquots before refrigerating.

Safe Handling

Protecting yourself and the product every time you open a vial.

Treat every peptide vial as a sensitive laboratory reagent. Clean technique protects both you and the peptide from contamination, moisture and degradation. Work on a clean surface, avoid touching the stopper, and never expose the powder to air for longer than necessary.

  1. 1Work on a clean, disinfected surface with good lighting.
  2. 2Wash hands and wear fresh nitrile gloves before handling any vial.
  3. 3Inspect the vial before use — reject any with a cracked stopper, discolouration or particulates.
  4. 4Swab the rubber stopper with 70% alcohol and allow it to air-dry before piercing.
  5. 5Never touch the needle or the underside of the stopper with bare fingers.

Tip: Keep a dedicated, labelled area for peptide handling away from food, pets and household chemicals.

Administration

Drawing and delivering a research dose accurately and comfortably.

Research protocols typically use subcutaneous administration with an insulin syringe. Accurate draw volume and gentle technique minimise tissue irritation and ensure the dose matches your protocol. Always rotate sites to protect the skin and subcutaneous tissue.

  1. 1Draw the calculated volume into a fresh insulin syringe, tapping out air bubbles.
  2. 2Pinch a fold of clean skin on the abdomen or outer thigh.
  3. 3Insert the needle at a 45° angle for a standard insulin syringe.
  4. 4Depress the plunger slowly and hold the needle in place for 5 seconds.
  5. 5Withdraw smoothly, release the pinch, and rotate to a new site each day.

Tip: Rotate injection sites in a pattern (e.g. four abdominal quadrants) to avoid lipodystrophy and irritation.

Hygiene & Sterility

Single-use discipline that prevents infection and cross-contamination.

Sterility is non-negotiable. Every syringe and needle is single-use. Sharing syringes or reusing needles risks infection and degrades the peptide. Maintain a clean workspace and dispose of all sharps responsibly.

  1. 1Use a brand-new sterile syringe and needle for every single dose.
  2. 2Swab both the vial stopper and the injection site with 70% alcohol.
  3. 3Never share syringes, needles or multi-dose vials between people.
  4. 4Do not recap used needles — place them straight into a sharps container.
  5. 5Replace bacteriostatic water within 30 days of opening.

Tip: Order pre-packaged sterile syringes and keep a sealed sharps container in your handling area at all times.

Receiving & Transport

What to do the moment your cold-chain order arrives.

Peptides ship in insulated cold-chain packaging with gel ice packs. Prompt handling on arrival preserves potency, especially in warm Australian weather. Inspect, log and store your order correctly the day it is delivered.

  1. 1Open the package immediately on delivery — do not leave it in a hot mailbox or car.
  2. 2Inspect the ice packs; vials should feel cool to the touch.
  3. 3Check each vial for damage, correct labelling and lot number against the CoA.
  4. 4Transfer lyophilised vials to the freezer within 30 minutes of arrival.
  5. 5Keep the included protocol guide and Certificate of Analysis for your records.

Tip: If a delivery is delayed beyond 48 hours or arrives warm, contact us before using — we will verify cold-chain integrity.

Disposal

Safe, compliant disposal of sharps, vials and expired product.

Used sharps, empty vials and expired peptides are laboratory waste. Dispose of them through approved channels — never household rubbish — to protect waste workers and stay compliant with Australian regulations.

  1. 1Place all used needles and syringes in a sealed sharps container.
  2. 2Take full sharps containers to a pharmacy or council sharps collection point.
  3. 3Rinse empty vials with water, deface the label, then recycle glass where local rules allow.
  4. 4Expired or unused reconstituted peptide should be inactivated before disposal.
  5. 5Keep a simple log of disposed lots for your records.

Tip: Many Australian councils offer free sharps container drop-off — check your local council website.

Pre-handling checklist

Need a precise dose?

Use our dosage calculator to compute exact draw volumes from your reconstituted vial.

Rest after reconstitution

Let the vial rest a few minutes before first use so the peptide fully dissolves.

Fridge, not freezer

Once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2–8°C. Freezing a liquid vial ruins it.

Bacteriostatic water

Use 0.9% benzyl alcohol water and replace it within 30 days of opening.
